6 CFM QUESTIONS

If you have a small compressor we have some great recommendations:
(smaller than 5-6 HP and a 26 gallon tank - less than 8cfm)

The misconception uninformed salesmen make. While it is true, most professional HVLP guns require a lot of CFM (around 9-15 cfm 220v outlet), certain HVLP gun lines specialize in lower CFM guns. That is why we are here! Don't worry, most Serious Hobbyists and woodworkers have smaller compressors and many of the top guns we recommend are rated to run on smaller compressors. These compressor can be found at any local store i.e. $200 - $300 at Sears. We also have options for you if you only have a 1HP or 2HP - compressors rated below 6cfm@40psi.

How BIG a compressor do you need?

Woodworkers spray a lot of right edges and make smaller passes. They generally do not run their guns continuously. so most of our guns rated at 7-10 CFM can be operated with satisfaction on a 2-5HP single stage compressor rated at 6.8 @ 40. Guns rated at 9-12CFM can be operated with satisfaction on a (5-6HP exploding - 3CFM true HP) single stage compressor rated at 8.6 @ 40. If you have a compressor rated below 6.8@40, we have a special selection of professional low air guns and mini guns which operate on as little as 1HP (3-5 CFM).

*If you only have a rating @90 psi no problem you should be able to add between 1 & 2 cfm as you drop down to 40psi depending on how good your motor is. Generally name brands have better motors, but this is not always the case.
