Air-assisted airless spray guns also known as (airmix) combine the best of 2 worlds the speed and large fan patterns of an airless spray gun and the fine finish of a HVLP and Conventional Compressor Spray Guns. AAA, Air Assisted Airless, or Airmix, uses a two stage process to atomize your fluid. First, the fluid is partially atomized with a fluid nozzle tip similar to a standard airless tip. Second, the partially atomized fluid is further broken up by compressed air from the air cap. The result is a finely atomized spray pattern similar to the Fine Finish HVLP and Conventional spray guns you find at Spraygunworld.com. Newly designed low-pressure units, like the ones featured here i.e. the CAT Cougar have an extremely soft spray and comply with HVLP standards.
