1) Your Product.

Easy: Consumer waterbased products like minwax can produce professional results with a professional spray gun. Don't worry about spraying consumer paints, they are great! But be aware they tend to be thicker than "professional grade" products. Some great companies, Meguiar, Minwax, Valspar, Sherman Williams, Mowhalk.

Professional: Solvent based products are the best currently, however please use the manufactuers recommended safety equipment. Some of it is nasty and most of it is being outlawed by the Green movement.

Professional waterbased products are newer to the market, but this is the way all paints are going and it is safer for you. The quality of these products is evolving fast an soon should be as good as solvent based paints. Some great companies are ML Campbell, Target Coatings, Fuhr, Lenmar.

Hi-End: Yes, you can import great solvent based products from Europe, just don't tell the EPA.

2) Your Spray Gun

To get a professional finish all you need is:

1) a spray gun WITH THE CORRECT SETUP for your material ($80-$500).

2) A $4.00 filter - See our filter section for more elaborate setups.

3) $10 approved face mask for waterbased products. (check with paint manufactuer).

4) and a compressor (we carry the low CFM leader) so all you need is a 3CFM or larger compressor. Typically found for $100-$200. We recommend 6CFM or more compressor if you can get one - remember you can use it for all sorts of other air tools.

3) And Go for It! - It's really fun and easy. Don't be afraid, just do it! It's an art, not a science.
